ABOUT ME

A self-taught, first-generation Haitian American artist.

Ingrid Yuzly Mathurin is a Haitian American oil painter and muralist whose portraits use bold color to celebrate Black life and identity. She has exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum and created murals and commissions for the City of Boston, ESPN & NFL Films, the Los Angeles Lakers, Peacock and United Way. A 2024 Soho House Fellow and NYFA Artist as Entrepreneur Fellow, Mathurin centers joy, cultural pride and visibility in her work, honoring communities whose stories are too often overlooked.

Latest exhibition: Visual Voices: You Can Have That Chair, This One Is Taken, a group show curated by Jesus Caicedo at the Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning, Queens, NY (2026).

New walls this year: a mural for the City of Boston BLKOUT Walls Mural Festival honoring Dr. Joan Wallace-Benjamin, and a Bed-Stuy Walls mural at 677 Lexington Ave in Brooklyn. In 2026 Mathurin was also Artist in Residence at El Jardin Inn in Miami.

Her paintings have been shown at the Brooklyn Museum and the Montclair Art Museum and grace the cover of Jimmy's Faith (Fordham University Press, 2024). She is a 2024 Soho House Creative Fellow and a Saatchi Art New Futures awardee, and she mentors emerging artists of color.
